St. Paul's Chapel

St. Paul's Chapel

1766

Architect: Thomas McBean
Address: 209 Broadway, Manhattan

The oldest public building in Manhattan still in continuous use, St. Paul's Chapel sits, as you can see, right in front of (or behind, depending on your location) of Ground Zero, the Oculus, and One World Trade Center. (You can see its old backdrop in the Pinterest link below). This is clearly a problematic shot; the chapel isn't "front and center" and the shot is actually dominated by One World Trade Center. However, I really did want to get the clock and the spire of the chapel in. A better angle would be to move closer and to the right, so I could crop out One WTC. However, that puts me and the tripod in the middle of Broadway. As I'm typing this, a solution popped in to my head, which is to shoot from Park Row with the zoom lens. I'll try that...
