St. Bartholomew's Church
1917
Architect: Bertram Goodhue
Address: 325 Park Avenue, Manhattan
Even though it could be lit just a hair more consistently, this “jewel in a monumental setting,” (courtesy of writer Christine Smith) has been burning brightly on Park Avenue for more than 100 years; it became a National Historic Landmark in 2016. The Byzantine design on the outside is continued inside, especially under its intricate carved dome roof—it’s easily one of my favorite interiors in all of New York.
